The most fashionable season of the year has arrived! Fall is here and I am bringing you the trends of 2019 that are in and the trends from 2018 that are out. Some of last year’s biggest trends are already fading away from our Instagram feeds. So what can we expect to see the fashion influencers wearing in the upcoming months?
Out: pastels.
In: neutrals. Light-colored sweaters, jackets, shoes, etc. are no more. This season, it’s all about the neutral tones. Elizabeth von der Goltz, Global Buying Director at Net-a-Porter says, “an inescapable sea of beige is coming this season.” She suggests “mixing shades within one look and experimenting with fabrication like leather, silk, and linen.” However, if the head-to-toe tan isn’t your style, try adding in black accessories or shoes.
Out: the belt bag.
In: top handle bags. Saks Fifth Avenue Fashion Director, Roopal Patel, predicts “they will be the ‘it’ accessory in 2019.” The “structured design is luxe and polished, making for the perfect everyday bag.”
Out: feathers.
In: Leather. It goes beyond just outerwear. Leather tops and pants are now trending. We all know that a black leather jacket is a staple piece in our closets. However, brown, red, and white leathers are now fashion-forward. Matte and high shine leathers are in and the best part is: leather can be dressed up or down.
Out: lace.
In: crochet. Lace will always be considered a gorgeous fabric for statement pieces. It is not completely outdated, however, crochet pieces are everywhere this season. Sweaters and A-line gowns are being reworked in crochet, incorporating pops of color too.
In: tiny purses, plaid, tie-dye, belts, green tones, shades of purple
Out: oversized jackets, off the shoulder, casual sportswear, dad sneakers
